The Wine Mom’s Top Nine Wines of 2009

The Wine Mom  Wednesday, December 30, 2009

2009 was a great year in wine for me personally.  I have had the pleasure of sampling wines, meeting some fantastic people in the wine industry, launching my own blog and contributing to The Average Parent this year.  Through these unique experiences, I thought I’d share some of my personal wine high lights from 2009.

SleepSack Saved My Sanity

rebeca  Wednesday, December 30, 2009

No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn’t master the swaddle. The nurses made it seem so easy, but sleep deprivation and intense origami blanket folding do not mix! The Halo SleepSack was our only solution. Available in a variety of colors, sizes and fabrics, this wearable blanket keeps babies warm and cozy without [...]

Cream Cheese Taco Dip

rebeca  Monday, December 21, 2009

This recipe is one of my favorite party dishes simply because everybody loves it and it’s so incredibly easy to make. Plus, you can store leftovers in the fridge for late-night snacking. Yum!
Here’s what you need:
2 boxes of cream cheese softened
2 small jars of medium Ortega taco sauce
Shredded Lettuce
1 bag of shredded cheddar cheese
1-2 small tomatoes [...]

Veggie-Packed Meatloaf with a Dollop of Flavor

rebeca  Wednesday, December 16, 2009

This particular recipe for Market Street Meat Loaf scored high points in our house…even with the uber picky hubby. Sheila Lukins’s latest cookbook, “TEN: All the Foods We Love, Ten Recipes for Each.” I especially like it because it packs a huge punch of flavor… it’s a unique twist on an old favorite. Plus, [...]

rebeca  Tuesday, December 15, 2009

I really don’t cook often, but when I do, I like to make dishes that get people talking. I have a handful of signature dishes that everybody looks forward to and I like it that way. Because this is the season for entertaining, I thought I’d share a few recipes with you. My top recipe [...]

Perk Up with a Purpose

rebeca  Monday, December 14, 2009

My goodness, I love a good cup of coffee. There is something special about the aroma and fresh flavor that gets my blood flowing. It is especially nice when I get the rare treat of savoring that wonderful brew before my 2-year-old wakes for the day. Ah…the bliss!
I know I’m not alone in this, right? [...]

Richard Scarry’s Busytown Eye found it! Review & Giveaway

rebeca  Wednesday, December 9, 2009

Well, winter has arrived and unfortunately that means we’ll be spending a lot more time indoors. This is my least favorite time of the year, but it does have it’s upsides. For example, we don’t have to cut the grass any more and there aren’t any bugs to worry about. Also, winter can be a [...]

Do you have a Smart Potty?

The Wine Mom  Monday, November 30, 2009

Potty training is something we all have to do with our toddlers.  My son is two years old and hates being wet or dirty, so potty training seemed like the next logical step.  Our master bathroom is relatively large but the toilet has its own ‘stall’.  We did not want to purchase a large potty [...]

Stash with Trash: Repurpose all those Containers

Before tossing it into the recycling bin or trash can, take a moment to think about how you can repurpose a lot of your household trash. For example, a leftover egg carton can be used to organize a craft drawer, or separate tiny hair pieces. Let your kids paint it for more style. An empty diaper wipes container is perfect for storing plastic grocery bags in the car or nursery, or you can repurpose it as a storage box for crayons, toy parts or other craft supplies. Got a messy top drawer in your office? Glass baby food jars are perfect for storing paperclips, push pins and other small office supplies.
