Update: Full Stop

I am so thankful for everyone who has clicked on this link, voted for Cooper or written a letter on Cooper’s behalf. I’m happy to pass along this facebook update from the Laurie Berkner Band: ”Thanks to everyone who has written to us about Cooper. Laurie will be getting in touch with Cooper’s family shortly.”

The band has also asked that we stop flooding them with emails, as they are a bit overwhelmed with our passion. They want to make sure they see every message from every little boy and girl. So, I’ve deleted the email addresses from this post. But, you can always visit their facebook page, tweet the band or send a traditional snail mail letter to express your gratitude for responding so quickly.

Grey_RibbonI don’t normally post specific requests for help, but this one comes from a dear friend and has really been tugging on my heart strings. Two-year-old Cooper has been battling cancer for way too long. He has undergone surgery to remove a cancerous tumor on his brainstem and a recent visit with the Oncology Group at UNC was not promising. As the parent of a 2yo, I can’t even begin to imagine what this family is going through. My heart aches for them! Friends and family have offered their support and prayers through this difficult time, but there is little anyone can really do…until now.

Cooper’s parents have spread the word that he is obsessed with the Laurie Berkner Band. In fact, he puts Laurie Berkner above Elmo and Mickey every day of the week and twice on Sunday! He knows every lyric to every song and has used her music to carry him through this nightmare and all of the recovery time from surgery, countless Doctor’s appointments, X-rays, etc. So, his parents are asking that you request her to come to his town for a concert. This is the one wish we can work together to help come true.

Check out the box below or click here to cast your vote online. Cooper’s zip code is 27516. Please spread the word by posting this page to your facebook profile, emailing friends or tweet this: “Vote to help 2yo cancer patient’s wish come true to see @LaurieBerkner http://bit.ly/d9rrPH

  1. I feel this bad should perform for this little boy Cooper. This could be his last wish. After all how could you turn down a 2yr old. I know I could not. One child One hope One Wish. Please grant this childs wish

  2. No two year old should ever have to make a last wish; Coopers struggle is a perverse of nature, and I will pray for him daily. Ofcourse the band should give him the biggest best conocert ever- every day that cooper has, as few or as many, should be filled with happiness and positivity. I hope his wish is granted. As the parent of a 27 month old, just reading this story makes me tremble. God bless & protect Cooper.

  3. Thanks to everyone who has written to us about Cooper! We have received an incredible amount of e-mails. What an amazing community response!

Laurie will be getting in touch with Cooper’s family shortly!

We ask that you please refrain from sending further e-mails and contacting the staff on their personal Facebook accounts as we have been overwhelmed with requests and don’t want to miss any e-mails from other kids in need. We do respond to EVERY e-mail that is sent to us.

Our thoughts are with Cooper, his family, and his community during this difficult time.

Stash with Trash: Repurpose all those Containers

Before tossing it into the recycling bin or trash can, take a moment to think about how you can repurpose a lot of your household trash. For example, a leftover egg carton can be used to organize a craft drawer, or separate tiny hair pieces. Let your kids paint it for more style. An empty diaper wipes container is perfect for storing plastic grocery bags in the car or nursery, or you can repurpose it as a storage box for crayons, toy parts or other craft supplies. Got a messy top drawer in your office? Glass baby food jars are perfect for storing paperclips, push pins and other small office supplies.
